Humour and personality
Steven Berry, Assoc CIPDPenny was a fantastic speaker at our HR professionals' event, focusing on inclusion, confidence, and wellbeing. She collaborated effectively with me and other speakers to shape the event and tailored her content to align seamlessly with the overall programme. Her speech was well-presented and structured, offering simple yet effective tips for delegates to take away, along with humour and personal storytelling that kept everyone engaged. During the panel discussion at the end, Penny's insights helped delegates explore the topics in greater depth. I highly recommend Penny as a professional and engaging speaker.

Penny understood our aims
Esther Brady, Managing Director, Property TectonicsPenny brought the sparkle to our customer conference. From the outset Penny worked closely with us to understand our aims and objectives of the conference. We're a professional services business so unless you're in our sector it can be challenging to come in and fully understand what we do for our customers. However, Penny clearly spent a great deal of time researching the topics we were going to discuss at the conference. This made her the perfect event host and panel chair. She spoke with authority and knowledge on the various debates and even brought humour to keep the mood light throughout a heavy topic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Penny and we will definitely be working with her again in the future.

Sensational!
Tabitha Brear, Industry Engagement Lead, EMEA, GooglePenny Haslam’s remote session for our EMEA leaders was sensational and they’ve gone on to use what they learnt to great effect. What was also highly impressive was how she engaged them through the camera and held their attention from start to finish. The feedback has been fantastic.

Funny, engaging, informative
Steve Smith, Chief Executive, NWEEGFunny, engaging, informative and professional are how I'd best describe you Penny! You were professional from start to finish and the whole process was seamless. The fact that attendees are still talking about what you said explains that our money was well spent.

"The feedback from delegates has been superb"
Debbie Walker, Director General - Harpa
30 January 2026
Penny made an outstanding contribution to our two-day HARPA Conference in London. With over 600 members, associates and suppliers in attendance, her role was pivotal in setting the tone and maintaining energy across the entire event.
As host across both days, Penny brought warmth, humour and professionalism in equal measure. She kept the programme flowing smoothly, engaged the audience throughout and created an atmosphere that felt both polished and fun. The feedback from delegates has been superb.
Her Make Yourself a Little Bit Famous keynote was also very well received. Delegates enjoyed the practical, take-home advice and the relatable personal stories she shared. The session gave people some tips they could immediately apply in their own roles.
On behalf of the Association, we’re extremely grateful for the part Penny played in making our first HARPA conference such a success and we very much hope to work with her again.
"These are skills which I will use again in the future"
Sarah Kind, Chief Commercial Officer - Edge Petrol
24 November 2025
I met Penny at a networking event, so when I was asked to present at an event I knew immediately that I wanted to enlist the help of Penny. It had been awhile since I had presented in front of such a large audience and I wanted to get the content and the delivery right.
Penny was excellent at helping me get a structure to my presentation and think differently about the approach. Even though my industry was not an area that Penny had worked with before, this was immaterial and she gave very good advice on what to include, exclude and chop down. I hadn’t actually expected Penny to help me as much with the content as she did!
Once she had helped me master this we then tackled the delivery which was easier to do given that I had confidence in the content. I enjoyed giving my presentation on the day and this was mainly down to being thoroughly prepared with all the help from Penny. These are skills which I will use again in the future.
I would highly recommend Penny for help with any form of public speaking whether it be the delivery, content or both.
"Practical, immediately applicable advice"
Shelley Perry MCIPD, Learning & Development professional -Beazley

I highly recommend Penny Haslam based on the exceptional session she delivered to my colleagues last week.
Penny's presentation focused on building confidence and managing nerves associated with public speaking. She didn't just share general platitudes; she provided practical, immediately applicable advice and brilliant tips that resonated with everyone in the room, from seasoned presenters to those who dread stepping up to the microphone.
Specifically, her structured approach to preparation and her advice on shifting mindset were invaluable. I personally will be adopting the planner she shared as a core tool for preparing future talks.
Penny is an engaging, insightful, and genuinely supportive speaker who delivers material that can create a real, positive change in professional development. If you are looking for a trainer to help your team improve their public speaking skills and confidence, Penny Haslam is an outstanding choice.
"Gave us plenty of takeaways and things to think about"
Lizi Platts, Head of Communications & Engagement - West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner
5 June 2025
I couldn’t recommend Penny more! She was a pleasure to work with and was a fantastic addition to our away day. From the very beginning, the process of booking Penny was easy. I valued that she took time to have a call to talk through what we wanted from her input. We then worked through her presentation and made sure it would hit the mark for our organisation. This process put me at ease that I’d chosen the right person. During the input, Penny was brilliant! Funny, engaging, memorable and gave us plenty of takeaways and things to think about. When I sent out a survey to the organisation, after the away day, there was nothing but praise for Penny with people noting her as the highlight of the day. Book her immediately!

She has helped me build my confidence, made me think differently and been a general sounding board.
She has assisted me in the lead up to speaking and chairing opportunities as well as hosting large events.
If you are looking for a motivational speaker or a masterclass, Penny is your lady!
"The confidence and clarity I need to achieve progress"
ABIGAIL Irozuru OLY, MBA, Olympian I Keynote Speaker I Strategist
24 June 2024
Confidence-boosting, encouraging and real. In the same way I have worked with coaches to boost my confidence and technical proficiency to jump far into a sand pit or to lift heavy weights, I'm grateful to be able to work with a coach/mentor (Penny, of course) to do the same - but in a speaking context - to speak better on stage and to strategically build my speaking business. Coaching and mentoring sessions with Penny always leave me with a clear action-plan and the confidence and clarity I need to achieve progress. If you're thinking about booking Penny - what's stopping you?! Book her today. Grazie, Penny!
"Our members were hugely enthusiastic about her afterwards"
Emma McConachie, Director at Areté
21 May 2024
Penny is wonderful as a speaker: a combination of inspiration, humour, engaging content, professionalism and extremely useful information.
She was key note for the IRLA conference in Brighton in 2024, and our members were hugely enthusiastic about her afterwards.
For an audience of leaders considering how to accountably shape their career success, she's the perfect choice as a speaker. Very highly recommended.
(Plus she's lovely too)
"How to think clearly, listen intently, and convey with impact"
Fraser MacDougall, Commercially Focused Marketing Director
3 January 2024
Some people have the ability to blend exquisite listening with impactful insight that breaks into the heart of who your are as a person. Over a fantastic six month period in 2023 I was lucky enough to work with Penny in this coaching environment that has revealed such a huge amount to me in terms of how to think clearly, listen intently, and convey with impact. I can't thank Penny enough for this time, and if any of this interests you even a little bit, I would encourage you to get in touch with her directly and talk about the possibilities.
"How to stay match-fit and sustain the learnings to apply them long after the session"
Tim Reid, Customer Relationship Director at NHBC
30 October 2023
Tim Reid, customer relationship director, NHBC: “We found the chairing and panel training from Penny incredibly useful, both for individuals who had some good experience of chairing and contributing to panels, but also for beginners. Penny immediately gained credibility with the group of directors and senior managers with her strong broadcast and chairing background, alongside the interactive nature of the discussion.
“Key takeaways: the importance and tips on preparation and planning, shared experiences of hopes and fears, how to interrupt politely but firmly, structure of how to make a point on the panel and be memorable for the right reasons, putting it all to test in roleplays with constructive feedback after and how to stay match-fit and sustain the learnings to apply them long after the session.”
"I saw a noticeable difference in how the team approached the event"
Laura Brooks, EMEA PR at Datadog
1 June 2023
Penny is an absolute joy to work with. She is highly talented, thanks to her years of experience of journalism and presenting, and offers her insight to the people she is training in a professional and approachable way… and with bags of energy.
I asked Penny to train 9 of our spokespeople for an upcoming conference we were hosting, needing training for our MC, panel hosts, fireside chat interviewees and a keynote speaker. Penny approached each training session with bespoke and tailored tips and worked with everyone to ensure they got the most value out of the sessions with her. I saw a noticeable difference in how the team approached the event after the sessions with Penny.
I’d highly recommend Penny to anyone looking for a presentation trainer who 1) makes training fun and engaging and 2) leaves her pupils feeling excited and confident going into their next event.
"The skills and tips Penny shares with us are doable and realistic"
Steph Nelson, Deputy head of communications, Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust
6 April 2023
Penny's sessions are always so relaxed and hilarious and I feel totally immersed in whatever we are discussing throughout. The workshops have been the best I've attended hands down. I leave feeling energised and confident that the skills and tips Penny shares with us are doable and realistic rather than pie in the sky theories that would be nice 'if only I had the time'. I've taken learning not only for my work life but my personal life too. I would definitely recommend Penny- she's fab!
"The audience’s eyes were opened to the possibilities"
James Perryman, Leadership Development Consultant
24 March 2023
Very recently, Penny was the main speaker at the Professional Speaking Association region that I run, sharing her talk which focused on Panel Discussions for Professional Speakers - sharing her ultimate guide to moderating and appearing on Panel Discussions.
Penny's delivery is slick, professional, humorous and very relevant. The audience's eyes were opened to the possibilities, benefits and many reasons for promoting oneself as a panel expert, aswell as how to be the best panel moderator possible.
Not only did she deliver her keynote talk, she then encouraged members of the audience to come up and take part in a couple of 'test' panels, to try out their skills and knowledge, and put some of the learning into practice.
If you need a speaker that is engaging, thought-provoking and insightful, book Penny Haslam.
"Valuable tips, insights and advice"
MARK LEE FCA, Mentor to experienced sole practitioner accountants
13 March 2023
Penny is such a compelling, knowledgeable, entertaining and inspiring speaker. I recently heard her speak on confidence related issues and loved the ways she admitted her own confidence issues - all be it drawn from her impressive and credible broadcasting background. She is delightfully self-deprecating and brilliantly engages the audience as she shares valuable tips, insights and advice which, if followed, are bound to lead to an increase in self-confidence and thus a more motivated team. Highly recommended.
"How to ask the RIGHT questions"
Lynne Evans, Senior Conference Producer
28 November 2022
I can't recommend Penny highly enough for a panel moderator role. She really is an expert in this field, pulling on her years of TV journalism and presenting - making her a true natural on stage.
More than that though is the time that Penny takes to understand the topic being covered, the advance preparation and "ownership" of the panel so that she knows just how to make the panellists feel at ease and MUCH more importantly - a skill that evades so many moderators - how to ask the RIGHT questions and then truly listening to the answers in order to follow-up and engage the fellow panellists.
I would book Penny again and again and again - if I could. Friendly, professional, engaging and of course, a "little bit famous" too!
"It was great to have one less thing to worry about"
Sue Evans, Keynote Speaker, Trainer and Facilitator
6 October 2022
Penny recently chaired a panel discussion at our Global Professional Speaking Conference. Right from the start, she did a fantastic job - engaging with and prepping our panelists, and setting up the whole session. As the event organiser, it was great to have one less thing to worry about. She made sure that every panelist had their say, and that the audience got their questions well answered; even keeping audience members from hogging the microphone with lengthy questions - which can be quite a challenge with Professional Speakers! She's been a joy to work with.
"Every one of the team took something away from the sessions"
Jonathan Guy, SEO and Digital Marketing specialist
4 April 2022
I've had lots of leadership and management training over the years, but nothing quite like this. Penny delivered her Confidence Training session to our entire team, remotely via Teams in March 2022 and I just wanted to write about the impact it has had.
Despite the obvious limitations of virtual training, the sessions were informative, educational, and fun. Penny showed us tools and techniques for handling various situations we all find ourselves in and encouraged everyone to understand how they could better manage difficult situations.
Her down to earth and honest approach was refreshing and I know that every one of the team took something away from the sessions. Since the training, we can hear people in the office talking about ‘self-talk’ and encouraging each other to reframe their issues so they are not a problem anymore. I’ve even found myself drawing a ‘Hi-Tech Pyramid’ to help deal with a large project and you know what, it works!
If you need to understand the confidence it takes to appear live on TV and how you can tap into that expertise to help your staff be more confident on a daily basis, I suggest you speak to Penny. She comes highly recommended.
"Video content which expanded my reach in the cyber security industry"
Amy Stokes-Waters, CEO @ The Cyber Escape Room Co.
10 May 2021
I saw Penny speaking at the Women in Tech Reframe Event in 2019 and honestly, her speech changed my whole outlook on my professional life and I can't thank her enough
Because I listened to Penny's advice, I had the confidence to start building my own personal brand. I started off making small changes, writing blogs, etc but my confidence grew and I took the "it'll never be perfect so post it anyway" attitude and started making video content which expanded my reach in the cyber security industry and meant I became friends with a whole community of amazing people.
This led to me creating a non-profit event called the Artificially Unintelligent Awards which we hosted in April 2021 for the first time, getting loads of big names involved from infosec, and raised over £8,000 for the Innocent Lives Foundation, no small feat for a first event!
I've now got bigger plans to get myself out there but none of it would have happened if I hadn't watched the speech about PIE... so a big thank you to Penny for teaching me how to make myself a bit famous, and giving me the confidence to go out and just get shit done, even if it's not quite perfect!
"Building CONFIDENCE was part of the aim and CONFIDENCE was the result!"
Kelly Mercer, Head of Public Sector Relationships at CCLA Investment Management
19 November 2020
The feedback following our event has been wonderful. Building CONFIDENCE was part of the aim and CONFIDENCE was the result! Penny was excellent, kept the virtual audience engaged throughout. Packed with tips like "stop colouring in" and 'ICE negative self-talk”, Penny’s session shares plenty of practical ways to build confidence. So useful for us all right now.
"We now confidently create engaging, customer focused content"
David Hunt, Non-Executive Chair | Board Advisor
6 April 2020
We know that video is a crucial part of engaging new and existing customers and we wanted to learn from the very best. Steve and Penny were absolutely spot on with their training for the sales team. We now confidently create engaging, customer focused content and we know how to express our key messages in our own words – with plenty of personality!
"I have taken charge & become so much more confident"
Kim Moorhouse, Trading Management Assistant at Optiver
27 March 2020
I was lucky enough to win coaching sessions from Penny at a PA Hub Conference & was a little dubious about what Penny could offer me at the start but I honestly feel like she has changed my life. The skills she has taught me about personal branding & getting myself out there to make myself "a little bit famous" have helped me so much in my career, I have taken charge & become so much more confident. I know more of who I am & what I want. I'm also doing things I never thought I would like writing articles & creating networking groups. I highly recommend Penny both for coaching & as a speaker as she is great at this as well. Thank you again Penny for all your help.
"Attendees are still talking about what you said"

WOW! Penny, you're fantastic!
Thank you for speaking at our event.
Funny, engaging, informative & professional are how I'd best describe you.
You were professional from start to finish and the whole process was seamless. The fact that attendees are still talking about what you said explains that our money was well spent.
I'd highly recommend you to any of my business contacts!
"She very quickly built my confidence in what I could do simply and quickly"
Mary Duggan, Productivity coach
9 January 2020
I should have written this ages ago! I attended a wonderful one-day workshop that Penny runs on how to use your smart-phone to create professional quality videos. I was blown away by the detailed instruction and guidance that we were given. She very quickly built my confidence in what I could do simply and quickly without having to use complicated equipment and software. Definitely a good investment!
"The script and the structure I needed to help me perform at my best"
Rachel Haslam, Leadership & Team Building Powerhouse
16 October 2019
Trainer to speaker. I needed some support, only one person out there to choose ..., it had to be Penny Haslam!
Penny work with me over a number of sessions to help me create the script and the structure I needed to help me perform at my best. She worked her magic, her tips and hints are so useful, and she also happens to be a joy to work with. Thank you!
"Allowed our people to connect, laugh and have a hugely valuable experience"
Jeff Phipps, SVP & General Manager ADP Northern Europe
12 July 2019
I worked with Penny on a series of podcasts. I was so impressed I asked if she would host our annual ADP leadership event. Penny combines a wonderful sense of humour with a human quality that allowed our people to connect, laugh and have a hugely valuable experience. If you don’t take yourself too seriously but are serious about your people and your business I can thoroughly recommend working with her.

"Our spokespeople are being asked to appear more regularly"
Abigail Scott Paul, Cities, culture and social change • Building movements, partnerships and public mandate • Global Head of the Humanise Campaign at Heatherwick Studio
15 February 2019
Penny has worked with JRF over the past year to train up our senior team and spokespeople so we can enjoy great visibility. She's trained and coached them in keynote speaking, being on panels, using their smartphones to make videos and in how to get the most from media appearances.
The difference Penny has made is immeasurable: our spokespeople can confidently and expertly talk about poverty in a way that avoids the usual pitfalls that occur in any debate about poverty. She is always available for constructive feedback, and helpful with advice on forthcoming opportunities.
She has helped us transition from using factual and academic language, to communicating as thought leaders. We now happily share 'real world' human stories in order to engage people with our messages.
As a result of Penny's work, our spokespeople are being asked to appear more regularly - because they are confident, credible and engaging experts! We cannot recommend her highly enough!
"Able to immediately use her F.A.C.E technique to answer questions"
Anthony Stears, Communication Culture Expert at National Sales Conference
14 January 2019
I have seen Penny speak a few times now and she always keeps me on the edge of my seat...not knowing when I'm going to laugh next or need to take notes. From hosting the Professional Speakers Association MEGA Conference (now known as 'Inspire') she managed to keep a rather "vocal audience" in check, and bring humour that hit the mark every time.
Then, I had the pleasure of seeing her present to a room full the Fellow's of the PSA, where everyone was not only hooked on every word she said, but also able to immediately use her F.A.C.E technique to answer questions in a way an interviewer would love.
Then, more recently, Penny stood-in last minute to run a session at the 2018 National Sales Conference, where the organiser told me he was delighted with her ability to "handle the room" and keep the debate moving.
Penny is a very professional, witty and engaging speaker, and would be great for anyone looking for a conference MC, or hoping to improve their presentation style on stage or on camera.
