Testimonial by Kate Davies, Executive Director, IMLAPenny Haslam’s interactive workplace confidence workshop gave IMLA members space to reflect on confidence, performance and how they support colleagues.
After our formal meeting in the morning, we hoped the session would help members reflect on how they present themselves, and how improving their confidence can enhance their performance and help them support colleagues.
Penny’s approach was fresh, engaging, humorous and thought-provoking. Her insights and candid assessment of her own personal career development were genuine and persuasive.
As one member put it, we were left reflecting for some time afterwards, always a sign of a great speaker.
How Penny helped IMLA explore confidence, performance and supporting colleagues
IMLA represents mortgage lenders that work through intermediaries, including mortgage brokers. It wanted a workplace confidence workshop for representatives from approximately 50 member organisations. With members working long hours in a busy, uncertain environment, the session aimed to explore how confidence could support performance, career development and colleagues.
Penny delivered her 60-minute Workplace Confidence Interactive Workshop, combining candid examples from her own career with audience participation and Q&A. The session invited members to reflect on how they present themselves and the difference greater confidence could make in their working lives.
Penny’s tailored keynote helped participants to:
- Reflect on their presence: Consider how they present themselves to clients, industry partners and colleagues.
- Connect confidence with performance: Explore how self-belief can help capable people contribute their expertise more readily.
- Consider how they support colleagues: Reflect on their role in encouraging confidence in others.
- Keep thinking beyond the session: Kate reported that members continued reflecting afterwards.
